There are two kinds of healing.
In one kind of healing a blessing comes to us.
We become uplifted, soothed, and difficulties and blocks fall away.
With the other kind of healing, the blessing is not so obvious.
We feel like we are brought low, life gets rough and difficulties and blocks are everywhere.
In this first kind of healing our guilt, fear, anger and shame are removed, or kept in abeyance. By this we discover there there is goodness in life and it is not all suffering.
In the second kind of healing we are confronted with our guilt, fear, anger and shame. In honestly facing them we grow stronger and discover that we are one with the goodness in life where there is no suffering.
In the first kind of healing we discover that powers and beings exist who assist us and that we are not alone or unaided on our life journey.
In the second kind of healing we discover that powers, and a greater capacity for being, exist within us and that we are the journey and the destination.
In the first kind of healing we fell that we are being put back together again.
In the second of healing we feel like we are falling apart. Sometimes falling apart is the best thing for us, if we have got too set in our ways. At other times being put back together again is the best thing for us, as we need to become set in new ways.
In the first kind of healing we are blessed by something outside of ourselves. We are like children who are aided by a loving intervention.
In the second kind of healing we are blessed by something inside of ourselves. We can become adults with a capacity to bless and offer loving intervention.
Sometimes we yearn for the first kind of healing when really we need the second kind. Indeed, it is often when we are receiving the second kind of healing that we mostly earnestly yearn for the first kind.
This is understandable, and both kinds of healing are complimentary and enhance each other. But, it helps to recognize the kind of healing that we are receiving.
It helps to recognize that there are two kinds of healing.
